Despite fears of illegal internet downloads and other pirated forms of music posing a huge threat, the audio CDs of superstar Rajni’s ‘Kuselan’ have opened to record sales, with reports citing that more than 2 lakh CDs have been sold in a single day alone.
If this is the case with a film in which Rajni makes a ‘guest appearance’, one can very well imagine the kind of mayhem that would be created when the audio CDs of a film starring him as hero is increased. Such is the craze and popularity of the superstar, which is quite unmatched in Indian cinema.
If one equates the number of films and the number of hits of the superstar, he would probably be right up there not only in Indian cinema but ahead of many Hollywood stars as well.
The surge in sales on day two has already made the trade pundits predict that it might even set an overall sales record for any movie ever released in Tamil. For music director G.V. Prakash Kumar, this could just be the turning point he must have been looking for. Even in the wildest of his dreams, he would never have imagined that a film set to score music by him would be so much in demand.
